Summernats 2012 preview!
Australia’s hottest horsepower party, the Summernats, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary when it gets underway from the 5th to the 8th January 2012 at Canberra’s Exhibition Park. While it’s no surprise to learn that PPG’s stand at the mammoth event will be packed with an eye-popping assortment of awesome cars and bikes, the organising team aren’t prepared to ‘let the cat out of the bag’ on their plans for the overall theme. What they are prepared to say is that it will be very different to past stands and will feature novel and innovative ways to showcase PPG’s extraordinary special effects paint range – the Vibrance Collection.
After being a huge hit as part of the PPG Masters of Custom event held in Sydney in July 2011, legendary US custom vehicle painter, Charley Hutton, is set to make a return. As well as appearing in several cult TV programs, such as American Hot Rod and TLC’s Overhaulin’, Charley’s work has also won a string of high profile awards, including several Street Rod of the Year and Custom Rod of the Year awards. He recently opened the Charley Hutton Color Studio, in Idaho, where he exclusively uses PPG products, including Envirobase High Performance waterborne basecoat system. During Summernats, Charley will not only be signing autographs and chatting to visitors, he will also conduct a series of onsite demonstrations to give show goers an insight into his approach to custom painting.
Although the overall make up of the PPG stand is being kept secret, there are two things you can count on – plenty of examples of the amazing possibilities offered by the Vibrance Collection and expert advice. Nothing beats seeing the high energy Vibrance colours and effects in person and you’ll be able to view them all in one place, including Radiance™ II Candy, Prizmatique™, Flamboyance, Liquid Crystal and Harlequin®. Not to be underestimated is the skilled and experienced PPG team who will be on-hand to provide ideas, practical information and technical tips. Whether you are a professional painter or a custom vehicle enthusiast looking for a standout finish to complete your own dream project, a visit to PPG’s Summernats stand is must.
